Introduction | Task | Process stage 1 | Process Stage 2 | Evaluation
You will be working in teams of three to four design specialists. Form your teams and sit together.
There are five clients that have approached us for help in designing a web site that suits their needs.
As a team, choose your client and write it down on your Team Guide Sheet (Part A).
Each of you will take on a different role within your team to help complete the overall assignment.
The Text Patrol |
The Graphics Guru |
Your job will be to look at the text on the web site. Look to see that there are no spelling or grammatical errors; the font style is consistent and appropriate for the content of the site; there is padding around the text; appropriate paragraph and line length have been applied; san serif fonts have been used for the majority of the text rather than serif font styles; text is readable; scrolling is kept to a minimum? |
Your job will be to look to make sure that the graphical content is appropriate for the theme of the site; graphics are not excessive; there is sufficient space around the graphics; the background is light; graphics and text are side by side; the page is attractive; the layout and color scheme is appealing? |
The Link'ster |
The Meaning Mobster |
Your job will be to look at the links on the site—are all links accessible, functional, and meaningful; do the link names or symbols make sense; does the web site load quickly; has the site been updated recently; does each page have a link back to the homepage; are there links missing that should have been provided? |
Your job is to look at the overall theme—is there a meaningful title or logo present; is the design appropriate for the intended audience; is the site easy to navigate; who made the web site; is the information accurate; is the purpose of the site obvious? |
Choose your role and record it in your Team Guide Sheet (Part A). People who take on more than 1 role will earn extra credit. Project Managers earn extra credit as well.
The process will be divided into THREE stages - evaluation & planning (stage 1), design & development (stage 2), Q/A & presentation (stage 3).
