Web Site Update

Sunday, October 23rd, 2005

I finally used the RSS feed reader to generate the script I needed to insert into my web site.

Now instead of just a link to my blog from the “news” button, the latest three posts on my blog are listed and always updated. Additionally, I updated the “clients” page to reflect my work with the Marblehead Public Schools.

Next, I think the photos on my site need some updating! And Korgee needs a new animation…I should steal back from Yahoo! Music and make her dance!

podcasting exploration

Saturday, October 22nd, 2005

I am not quite sure what I am doing but I created my first PODcast today. It was really easy. I went to http://www.garageband.com/ and set up a free account. Then called in my first clip from my phone. Logged in and published it to my playlist.

I can make a podcast to play my own recordings on my blog, but I can also simply use audioblogger.com to post them. Works the same way as GarageBand as far as calling in your message from a phone, but audioblogger posts it directly to my BLOG from the phone. GarageBand saves the recording in my master playlist, and then I have to publish it to my podcast later. With AudioBlogger, I can post ONE 5 minute message per post. With podcasting, I can post multiple messages into one channel which when published can be played continuously.

More exploring to do on this!

Blog ON!

Thursday, October 20th, 2005

BlogON 2005 Social Media Summit took place on Oct 17 and 18 in New York.

I would’ve loved to have been there, but alas, I got that teaching gig going on.Traditionally, blogs have been thought of as only online journals, personal diaries, and fun photo albums to share with friends and family. But blogs have also served as political forums, propaganda, business tools, educational communities, and news feeds that have and can sway public opinion and consumption, and ease communication within a community.

Blogging continues to evolve as one of the hottest communication and marketing tools online. At BlogON this year the focus was on how businesses can incorporate blogging into their communication and marketing strategies.

Check out the podcasts, blogs, and resources available at the blogonevent web site to learn more.
