About this blog
“The daily news asks her for the dope.
She says, ‘Man, the dope’s that there’s still hope.’”
- Bruce Springsteen
I use this blog to explore and record innovative uses of technology in the classroom, tools & resources I encounter, and relative news and events. I believe in trying a variety of ways of teaching in order to differentiate the learning experiences of my students, and I believe that technology bridges the gap between instruction and understanding. I don’t always succeed! This blog is a place for reflecting on the successes and the failures in the classroom, and celebrates both the challenges and the cheers.
For the followers from blogspot, the Dope does indeed live on, albeit repurposed and refocused. There is hope in education - especially with technology!
I teach media and work-force skills to middle, high school and community college students, and support teachers in integrating technology into their classrooms. See education.lkrdesign.com for a portfolio of my publications and projects as a licensed IT specialist. This blog features project highlights, conversations heard in my classroom, and pictures from daily lessons.
I am also a freelance media maker and founder of LKR design. So I will also frequently post here about recent jobs, updates about clients, and tech-related “stuff” that I think is useful, interesting, or just plain fun. ( I can’t help it! ) You may also see posts that seem out of context, but in fact these are “just testing” something I’ve encountered. I’m a programmer at heart, so troubleshooting and beta-testing is one of my mantras!
Finally, I am currently enrolled in my last year of the ALM ET program at the Harvard Extension School. So I will post in this blog about my research and the progress (or sometimes lack thereof!) of my thesis.
Enjoy! And feel free to comment or contact me directly.
