Blogger as a CCDT

You can use a blog as a collaborative curriculum development tool!

My colleague and I are co-teaching our Media Seminar class to the juniors and seniors. Team-teaching can be as challenging as it is rewarding. One of the major headaches is keeping track of the awesome lesson plans and project ideas that we seem to change on a daily (if not hourly) basis. So I am blogging our lesson plans, and revising them as we reflect on what worked and did not work each day. It’s a bit of work, but I think it will pay off when we need to repeat the curriculum in the second semester (and in years to come!).

Back to school!

I just completed (and am celebrating) my first full week of the new school year! I am VERY excited about the classes I am teaching. I am co-teaching a seminar on media literacy which focuses on video projects with the seniors and juniors. I am also psyched to meet all of the freshman – there are A LOT of them! They seem to be genuinely interested in web development, and I sense that we will have a very fun year together. Its been bumpy – getting a new schedule and a new roster every day! I hope I have finalized room assignments by Monday!! Being flexible and patient is critical in education, I think, but more importantly, you GOTTA have a sense of humor! In the end, the relationships and discussions and ideas I share with the students is the most rewarding part.

I am excited about my fourth year at TechBoston Academy. I have my own computer lab to manage and am teaching Web Essentials to 9th graders, Advanced Web Development to 10th graders, and a Media Seminar class to Juniors and Seniors. Phew! I better go to bed!

Time to rest up now!
